EVANSVILLE — The Vanderburgh County Commission has voted in favor of an ordinance regulating the use of golf carts on county roads.

The commission voted 3-0 in favor of County Ordinance 08-25-013, which came after a resident approached the county with concerns. Justin Elpers, president of the commission, said a resident had seen some younger kids driving a golf cart on county roads.

"We looked into it and thought we could have some safeguards," Elpers said.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson said the ordinance is a good compromise to allow limited golf cart use, while putting guardrails in place to ensure it's done safely.
