A van driver who was stopped over a dodgy tyre is now at the centre of a bigger investigation .

Greater Manchester Police says officers stopped a delivery van which was seen with a dangerous tyre.

An image shared by GMP Manchester Airport this morning (August 28) shows a white Mercedes-Benz van with a tyre that appears to be unroadworthy.

But that issue was just the start of the problems GMP unpicked as officers carried out further checks on both the vehicle and its driver.

The van was found to have a faulty handbrake, prompting officers to take it off the road.

Meanwhile, checks on the driver revealed they had no legal right to work in the UK, prompting a further investigation
