MARTINSBURG - The Martinsburg VA Medical Center hosted an Overdose Awareness event Wednesday, aiming to bring attention to the impact of substance use on veterans and offering resources for harm reduction, treatment and prevention.

The event was held ahead of International Overdose Awareness Day, which is observed annually on Aug. 31. Organizers moved the program earlier in the week to increase participation among veterans.
