SHEPHERDSTOWN -- Shepherd University computer science major Curtis Candy sat down at a table inside of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, during a break in his first week of classes, with a grilled hotdog and bag of chips in hand. The peaceful atmosphere, friendly conversation and free food available in the space was exactly what he needed, as he was becoming acclimated to the demanding schedule of his junior year.
According to Candy, this was not the first time he had visited the church, to partake of its free week of lunches at the beginning of the school year and its free weekly lunches on Wednesdays, throughout the rest of the year.
