Did we listen? Only to hear what we wanted, that he was OK, that the longtime owner of the Indianapolis Colts was a recovering addict, emphasis on recovering. That’s what he said, over and over, in his final decade. It’s what he said in 2020 when he and the Colts created Kicking the Stigma, their initiative to combat mental illness with a combination of philanthropy and, yes, transparency.
