CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - As our Clear the Shelters campaign nears its end, Dakin Humane Society is committed to providing animal care to people in our community. Thanks to a special grant, they're helping pet owners easily access spay/neuter surgeries.

Dakin's Community Spay and Neuter Clinic is one of the largest in New England, performing more than 134,000 surgeries since its opening in 2009. They're sharing the importance of spay/neuter, why new pet owners should consider it.

“We're lucky in New England that most of the people who have pets here follow spay/neuter procedures and have this done with their pets. And it's a good thing,” said Lee Chambers, Media Relations & Development Specialist at Dakin Humane Society.
