CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - As Labor Day weekend approaches, travelers are gearing up for busy roads and traffic jams, with AAA advising to hit the road before noon to avoid heavy congestion.
Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on Thursday, as commuters mix with holiday travelers. Brian Jarry of West Springfield, who frequently travels to Cape Cod, plans to leave early to avoid the rush.
"I drive the Pike a lot, I have a place on the Cape...but I make sure I get up early to go and I...go home early also," said Brian Jarry.
"With prices really stable and around that $3.05 range...that's certainly conducive to travel...so people aren't really thinking about gas prices right now," said Mark Schieldrop, the senior spokesperson for AAA Northeast.
