CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Students at Camelot Elementary School will kick off the new school year with a boost of excitement as a nonprofit provides 270 students with brand-new backpacks and essential school supplies on Thursday.
Volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation will greet students with a cheer team, distribute the supplies, and offer a photobooth to capture memories of their first day back at school. The Aug. 28 event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Special guests, including Councilwoman Dr. Ella Ward, Kim Scott, Vice Chairman of the Chesapeake School Board, and School Board Member Malia Huddle, will join the volunteers in handing out the items.
