SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- It took roughly 12 years of discussion and planning before the first act hit the Levitt at the Falls stage June 5, 2019, in Sioux Falls, Levitt President and Chief Executive Officer Nancy Halverson said.

Fast forward six years and it took about six months to raise more than $5 million for an expansion that will start soon.

"It took 12 years from the idea of concept to our first performance. That first campaign was $4 million. It was just a dream we had. Now we have proof of concept," Halverson said.

The Levitt will break ground Thursday afternoon on a 7,000-square-foot expansion, to be named the Sweetman Atrium, will include the DSU Community Room, the Lust Family Second Stage, an expanded artist dressing room and green room, six offices for Levitt staff, and
