The criminal case against Niagara Falls city Coun. Mike Strange continues to make its way through the courts.
Strange, 55, a three-time Olympic boxer, was arrested and charged with assault by Niagara Regional Police in early May in relation to an incident in Niagara Falls.
In Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Wednesday, a representative of defence lawyer Michael Delgobbo requested the matter be deferred until Sept. 24.
Strange did not attend court.
A police spokesperson said previously officers were called to a residence at about 3 a.m. May 3 for a report of a domestic assault.
Police said officers arrived to find an adult female with injuries, who was treated at the scene.
