SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A member of the City of San Angelo's Animal Services Division is being lauded as a hero after he swam roughly 60 yards in Lake Nasworthy to save an injured baby deer from drowning.

Nicholas Quinney, a licensed animal control officer for the City's Animal Services, said his division received a call shortly after lunch from the owner of Lakehouse Pizzeria & Taproom, a restaurant that operates on the shore of Lake Nasworthy. The owner informed Animal Services that a baby deer with a visibly injured leg was swimming in and out of the water behind the business.
