The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution urging federal and state environmental regulators to deny permits for Transco's pipeline expansion project in the Triad until a full environmental review is completed and the project is proven safe for public health and the environment.
Citing data analysis by the watchdog group Pipeline Safety Trust, the resolution stated that Transco — the operator of the proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement Project (SSEP) — has “one of the poorer safety records of national pipeline companies in the categories of accidents resulting in fatalities, cost per incident, and releases per incident.”
