NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A major police mobilization is coming to the Bronx this Labor Day weekend.

One thousand additional officers will be deployed across the borough following a bloody and deadly week. City leaders say they hope to prevent more lives from being lost over the holiday.

Since Saturday, there’s been a relentless barrage of bullets in the Bronx — taking lives and ripping families apart.

“She’s critical, on life support. We’re praying every day,” said Elizabeth Gardener, whose niece is 17-year-old Anthonaya Campbell of Hartford, CT.

Campbell’s family says she needs a miracle to survive. She was one of five people shot while visiting Haffen Park on Saturday. Her sister says she went without oxygen for more than 15 minutes.
