TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple City Council has approved their community focused 2026 fiscal year budget. The new plan will raise property taxes to address the challenges of the cities fast population growth and aging infrastructure.

A breakdown of some of the upcoming changes in the 2026 changes can be found below.

Property Taxes

Under the new budget, which takes effect Oct. 1, 2025, property owners will be required to pay $0.6999 per $100 of assessed value, up 11.72 percent from the previous rate. The city provided the following example:

For the average homestead with a taxable value of $220,566, the increase translates to about $19.90 more per month or $238.85 annually.
