Summerfield’s former town manager deleted roughly 5,200 text messages, threatened to have elected officials arrested if they visited town hall and browsed pornographic websites on his work computer.
Those are among the claims outlined in the town of Summerfield’s lawsuit against former town manager Scott Whitaker.
The town initially asked the courts to seal the lawsuit when it was filed on July 29. However, a copy of the 39-page unsealed lawsuit was accessible through the eCourts portal as of Thursday.
In a statement posted to Facebook Friday morning, the town said it had " had no role in the release of the complaint" and that the document was handed over to a reporter who requested a copy at the Guilford County Clerk of Superior Court's Office. The News & Record did not receive a cop
