Rail fares in Connecticut are going up on Monday.

A 5% fare increase goes into effect Sept. 1 on Metro-North's New Haven, New Canaan, Danbury, and Waterbury branch lines as well as the CTrail Hartford Line and Shore Line East, according to the state Department of Transportation.
