MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) - An elected state senator who represents Michiana has avoided jail time after admitting to allegations of driving with a blood alcohol level over three times the legal limit earlier this year.

According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune , State Sen. Mike Bohacek (R-Michiana Shores) has been sentenced to one year of probation for Class A misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.

A 20-day suspension of Bohacek’s driver’s license was also imposed under terms of a plea agreement, and he must also complete a substance abuse evaluation and take part in any recommended therapy.

Police say Bohacek was pulled over on Jan. 24 in Michigan City after witnesses reported him stumbling and appearing intoxicated at a Panda Express restaurant. His alleged
