The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team executed a search warrant Friday afternoon that led to multiple charges against two people.

According to Sheriff S.W. Calhoun, deputies served the warrant at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of 12th Avenue. The investigation resulted in charges against Jaquis Reed and Michael Trotter.

Reed was charged with two counts of sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church. Both Reed and Trotter face charges of trafficking cocaine while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a church, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities say evidence seized during the operation included one firearm, approximately four ounces of cocaine, and a large sum of U.S. currency.
