Heading into a beautiful, sunny long weekend – water safety may not necessarily be top of mind for many Calgarians.
However, a string of recent tragedies serves as a stark reminder.
In the past two weeks, there have been three calls for water rescues in Kananaskis Country and Calgary – including two young men in their 20s who drowned at Mahogany Lake this week in the city’s southeast.
Recovery efforts are ongoing for two individuals after their canoe capsized on Upper Kananaskis Lake on Tuesday.
