BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Curbside recycling came to neighborhoods across Burlington on this day in history in 1993.

Burlington started a pilot recycling program in 1989, gradually expanding the program until all residents were served by 1993.

Unlike other communities which contract out recycling pickup, Burlington still maintains its own fleet of municipal recycling trucks.
