RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Parents, grandparents, and everyone in between came to the Walmart off Brook Road in Henrico Saturday, Aug. 30, to check if their child’s car seat was properly installed.

Certified officials, including the New Kent Sheriff’s Office, Prince George Police Department, and Henrico Police Department, performed routine safety checks.

“We all just assume because a child is in a car seat that they are safe but if that car seat is not installed properly and if it is not being used properly, then that isn’t a safe option,” Officer Brittany Pike, with the Henrico Police Department, said.

The big things the inspectors looked at were if the seats harness fits the child properly, and if the seat is installed tight enough in the car.
