ADAMS-FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (WKOW) — Taylor Lachapelle, a small-town girl from Adams-Friendship, has emerged as a World Games gold medalist in powerlifting.
At 12 years old, Lachapelle started her journey by accompanying her dad to the gym.
"My dad used to help out with the powerlifting club, and so he would work out when I was growing up, and I would kind of tag along with him to the gym," Lachapelle said.
This routine sparked a passion, and by 14, she was competing internationally. Now, at 26, Lachapelle has brought home gold for Team USA.
Lachapelle won gold at the World Games in Chengdu, China, earlier this month. The World Games represent the pinnacle of powerlifting competitions, as it is not yet an Olympic event.
"I went in ranked first, and I knew if I just hit my lifts, I'd be set
