WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) — Friends, teachers, and community members came to Clute Park in Watkins Glen on August 30 to enjoy the last few days of summer, listen to music, and raise money for a good cause. The event was created to raise funds for Schuyler County Head Start .

Federal funding for the program has been approved for another year, but some workers say the future remains uncertain. Danielle Crosby said Head Start funding frequently comes up in budget talks, adding that it's historically at risk of being cut.

"I couldn't sit by and do nothing while trying to be part of deciding the direction of where the organization was going," said Crosby. "So I decided this was a good idea to try and raise some money to help Head Start out."
