A town hall Facebook live meeting hosted by a Warren planning commissioner who urged residents to vote no for a Nov. 4 ballot proposal for police and fire millage renewal prompted Warren Councilman Jonathan Lafferty to call for the commissioner’s removal from the board.
Planning commissioner Delwar Ansar said in a statement his community meeting was an effort to address high property taxes in Warren and discuss options for residents to reduce them. He voiced his opinion that millages such as Warren’s police and fire levy that has been in place for several years are overburdening taxpayers.
Lafferty alleges Ansar is giving out misinformation to residents regarding the specific police and fire millage and Warren property taxes in general.
