HONOLULU (Island News) – The arson suspect in the Kunia brush fire was released pending investigation after police arrested him for allegedly starting another fire in the Haleiwa area.
A barricade situation occurred at 70-year-old Antonio Vierra’s home on Friday, August 29, after police officers went to arrest him for a fire that was reported at Puaena Point Beach Park he was accused of starting.
The Haleiwa fire that Vierra is suspected of starting, had occurred hours after the Kunia fire on Aug. 23.
Vierra is no longer in police custody.
CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department continue to search for witnesses in the Haleiwa fire incident.
