(FOX 5/KUSI) — Crews from San Diego Fire-Rescue extinguished a fire at an empty home in North Park early Monday morning.
The agency said it received a call around 5:30 a.m. from a neighbor reporting an odor.
A fire unit sent to investigate found light smoke coming from the home and called for more crews to help.
A total of about 25 personnel responded to the home. Crews had to search for the fire and accessed part of the "subfloor" from the outside, a battalion chief told FOX 5/KUSI.
The fire appeared to have started by a floor heater, but it was not clear if the appliance was on or off.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire, and crews had to break down some walls to ensure the fire was out, the battalion chief said.
