A HGV lorry has collided with a bridge near a M60 motorway junction in Trafford - causing major delays all afternoon. No-one has been injured as a result of the collision and there has been no structural damage to the bridge, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed.

Police first told motorists to avoid the area at around 11am today , Monday, September 1, following reports of a 'traffic incident'.

GMP has since confirmed that a HGV lorry collided with the Lostock Circle bridge on the M60 , near the Trafford Centre.

Long queues have been building up on the M60 near J9 all day following the incident, with traffic expected to return to normal at around 4pm, according to current estimates by National Highways.
