Phones across the UK are set to receive an alert from the UK Government this weekend. In a message on their official website, they say: "We are testing the UK’s Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm."
The alert will vibrate make a siren-like noise, it should last no longer than 10 seconds. It will be sent to phones who are on 4G and 5G networks however if you want to opt out - whether it's for safety reasons or just a preference - you can do this in a few simple steps.
What does the UK text alert read?
The message will read: "This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby. You do not need to take any action. In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others
