COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A mother is facing charges after allegedly helping their teen escape from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
DJJ said the teen, a 16-year-old, escaped from its detention center Sunday evening before being found in their mother’s car and taken back into custody.
Officials said the teen’s mother, Savannah Mills, was arrested and charged with aiding the escape of a prisoner. Mills was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center following her arrest. Records show she was granted a $10,000 bond on Monday, but remains jailed as of 2 p.m.
The teen is also being charged with escape and is being detained at DJJ.
