The Vancouver Police Department says that an 81-year-old man has died after being hit by a car on Monday.

The incident occurred just after 4:30 a.m. when the pedestrian was crossing Southeast Marine Drive near Borden Street.

VPD says he was struck by the driver of a grey Audi Q3 travelling west on Southeast Marine Drive.

Despite life-saving attempts, the man died at the scene.

The driver of the Audi remained at the scene.

Speed or impairment is not considered a contributing factor to the collision.

Police say officers from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are collecting evidence.

Witnesses to the collision, or anyone with dash-cam video, are asked to contact the VPD.
