DENVER (KDVR) -- A man was pronounced dead at the scene of an all-terrain vehicle crash on a popular off-roading area in Summit County over the weekend.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office said in a post on Monday that the crash happened Sunday morning on Glacier Ridge, an off-roading area near Georgia Pass. Dispatchers received a satellite message reporting that a man was found under an ATV, unresponsive and not breathing.

First responders found the man, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office said a preliminary investigation suggests that the man was riding alone when a crash caused the vehicle to roll on top of him. He was wearing a helmet and "appeared properly equipped for his day in the back country," the sheriff's office said.
