PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Peoria continued its festive celebrations this morning with the annual Labor Day parade, followed by a family-friendly festival at the end of the parade route.

More than two dozen local unions marched down West Farmington Road, just south of Laura Bradley Park, for the annual parade. Along with them joined Peoria police and fire departments, Richwoods, Manual, and Peoria high school marching bands, among many other organizations.

This is the 25th year for the parade since its restart in 2000. The parade started in the early 1900s and was stopped in 1941 due to many union workers fighting in World War 2.

The parade concluded at Raber's Packing Company, where a family-friendly festival was held to continue the celebration of Labor Day.
