PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Around 330 runners from the Midwest and the world laced up their shoes for the 11th annual Bridge to Bridge Run.
Hosted by the Illinois Valley Striders, the four mile route took runners across the Bob Michel Bridge to the East Peoria Shopping Center, where they turned around and returned the same way.
This is the second year of this route, as construction on the Cedar Street Bridge forced the move last year.
Race Director John Pes said many runners actually appreciate the route change.
“People love it because the Bob Michael’s is a little flatter bridge, it makes it a little easier cause you know Cedar Street’s 300-foot elevation, and it’s the third mile of a four-mile race, so it makes it tough, but everybody likes this and enjoys it.”
