LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The region is mourning the loss of WYMT Chief Forecaster Brandon Robinson, who died Sunday after battling brain cancer for nearly a decade.
Letcher Countians say they are proud to live in the county he called home, with many saying things will never be quite the same.
“There’ll never be another Brandon Robinson in our community,” said Alberta Slone with I CAN Services, Inc.
Robinson served the region in several capacities over the years, but dedicated his 17-year TV news career to keeping people safe.
“You can feel the urgency in his voice,” said Slone. “You wanted to go to higher ground.”
He used that voice to report some of the most devastating weather to hit the area, becoming a place of refuge for viewers during lifechanging and deadly storms.
