LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - When Marguerite McDonald was just 19 years old, she became a ‘Rosie the Riveter.’ Now at 101, the Logan County native is still honoring her own legacy.
The past five years, Marguerite McDonald has traveled to different parts of Logan County and rang a bell as an honorary member of the Woman’s Club of Logan.
According to the National Bell Service, ringing a bell on Labor Day serves as a way to honor the ‘Rosie the Riveter’ movement that began during World War II.
As a Rosie, McDonald spent time working all over the East Coast while her husband moved from base to base.
“I worked at a hospital in Maryland. I worked at a dime store, then it was called, in Georgia,” McDonald said. “My husband was stationed at Metro Fields, and that’s where we stayed until the wa
