Android users are being warned of a new threat that could leave their devices seriously vulnerable if they ignore the latest warning. ‌

Bitdefender, a security specialist firm, has issued an alert following a sharp increase in attacks infecting phones with the dangerous Brokewell malware. ‌

Once this malicious software is installed, it takes full control, allowing cybercriminals to monitor activity , steal personal information , empty bank accounts and capture security codes that can subsequently be used to compromise email and other accounts. ‌

It's a deeply worrying attack that appears to be becoming increasingly common.

Bitdefender reports that Brokewell is being spread through fraudulent advertisements on social media platforms.
