A funding bid which would help revamp a community hub in Rouken Glen Park has now been launched.

East Renfrewshire Council has asked the Scottish Government for a £450,000 grant towards re-purposing the former Young Enterprise Scotland training centre in the park.

Cabinet members agreed to make the request for the cash, from a regeneration capital grant fund, at a meeting last month.

The council is currently waiting to find out whether it has been successful at stage one. An official said there is a “highly competitive” bidding process, with the fund usually well oversubscribed.

If it makes it through to stage two, a decision on the application is expected in “late December or early January”.
