PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- Did you know that in Pennsylvania, there is a "Stand Your Ground" law that allows someone to use force, including deadly force, if they believe they need to protect themselves.

In 2011, Pennsylvania amended its law of self-defense to include a "Stand Your Ground" or "Shoot First." Under traditional doctrines, one cannot resort to the use of deadly force in defense unless they have first successfully tried to remove oneself from the situation at hand. However, under the amendment, the law was expanded and now no longer requires someone to retreat.
