CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- Centre County officials are commenting on recent ICE activity after dozens of arrests.

In August, ICE announced the arrests of 24 immigration violators, which included a suspected member of the MS-13 gang. At the regular scheduled board of commissioners meeting, the question was asked if the commissioners had any comment on the recent arrests and if there had been any more activity since.

Originally, when the 24 were arrested, WTAJ reached out to Centre County Board of Commissioners Chair Mark Higgins for more information, but he declined to comment. During the meeting on Sept. 2, he also declined to comment.

"Well, it's more of a federal issue than a county issue. So I think we're going to mostly continue with no comment," Higgins said.
