LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Lansing Charter Commission will host its first community informational meeting on proposed reforms to the City of Lansing Charter on Wednesday, September 3, at 7 p.m. at the Foster Community Center, Room 210, 200 N. Foster Ave.
This meeting marks the beginning of a series of public forums designed to inform residents about the proposed changes and gather community feedback.
Key proposed charter reforms include:
Maintaining a strong mayoral system while introducing new guidelines to enhance mayoral accountability and transparency.
Expanding the City Council from eight to nine members by adding a Fifth Ward, aiming to improve representation and responsiveness.
Aligning all City Council elections to take place simultaneously during higher-turnout election year
