CLEVELAND, Ohio — Jeff Epstein is leaving Cleveland City Hall to become the new president and CEO of the Port of Cleveland.

Epstein, one of Mayor Justin Bibb’s initial cabinet members , was Cleveland’s first chief of integrated development. The reimagined role put Epstein in charge of nearly 300 employees in the city’s economic development, building and housing and community development departments.

In that role Epstein was tasked with breaking down silos between several city departments. He also laid the groundwork for Bibb’s plans to redevelop Cleveland’s shores, both the lakefront and the river. Now Epstein’s new role will keep him working on development across the region, while adding in overseeing Cleveland’s maritime shipping.
