UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Penn State research center focused on fraternity and sorority life has been awarded $70,000 to study how membership in Greek organizations may shape students’ leadership abilities, critical thinking and intercultural awareness.

The Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research announced the funding, supported in part by the North American Interfraternity Conference, to examine learning outcomes connected to fraternity involvement.

The study will include a second phase where Penn State will collaborate with Franklin College, Grand Valley State University, Kansas State University and the University of Central Oklahoma to collect data from campus organizations nationwide.
