WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - It’s estimated that 2.4 million fewer Americans will have the same resources they had last month to buy food. That’s because changes are now in effect for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
Qualifying for the program has gotten harder, and food pantries are bracing for more people needing their help.
“We’re just going to do our best and hope we can continue to provide food,” said Vicki Meyer, coordinator of Lowville’s food pantry.
She’s expecting things to seriously pick up in the coming weeks. In large part, that’s due to the way the Trump Administration has changed work requirements to qualify for SNAP.
