WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Up to 45 rental units across the city of Watertown could go from uninhabitable to home-ready.
“There are some buildings containing 5 units that are eligible for the program,” said Neighbors of Watertown Executive Director Reginald Schweitzer.
It’s called the Vacant Rental Program, funded by the state with a goal to expand housing for low and moderate-income renters outside of New York City.
Neighbors of Watertown and the City of Watertown are hoping to get $2.5 million towards rehabilitating vacant units.
“We’re expecting that these are full renovation rehabs, and probably some properties that have been sitting off the useful rental market for years,” said Schweitzer.
