WADENA — Grant Nelson ran a third-place 17:30.1 to lead the Wadena-Deer Creek boys to second place in the Johanna Olson Invite Tuesday, Sept. 3.

WDC landed all seven boys in the top 20. Owen Anderson finished seventh, followed by Evan Schmidt in 13th, Brennan Simmons in 14th, Lane Kaufman in 15th, James Seelhammer in 17th and Cooper Damlo in 18th.

Pilalger placed eighth with Eli Pexsa’s 32nd-place finish leading the way. Charlie Johnson finished 40th to lead Verndale to 10th.

WDC’s Karly Haverkamp ran an eighth-place 21:24.6 to lead the Wolverine girls’ team to third. Lydia Oldakowski placed 19th, followed by Brielle Kern in 20th and Cambrie Geiger in 22nd.

Alainna Dobson ran a 14th-place 22:19.6 to pace Pillager to sixth. Autumn Warner paced the Verndale girls with a 28th-place finish
