BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — A proposed housing development along Langford Road has been rejected by the Blythewood Planning Commission following a 3-2 vote Tuesday night.

The plan called for the construction of 104 townhomes on a 12-acre parcel of land.

The site, located along what many residents describe as one of the busiest roadways in the area, has stirred concerns about traffic and infrastructure.

“It just would have made the chaos ten times worse, not only for the residents that are going from Blythewood to downtown Columbia for work or whether it be for the residents that are going from Blythewood to Charlotte for work, or even if it comes down to children that are driving from Lake Carolina just to go to Blythewood High School,” resident Kyle Brantley said.
