DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — It’s a skill that nearly disappeared during the pandemic.
But inside one DeKalb County elementary school, students are proving cursive writing is far from forgotten.
At Robert Shaw Traditional Theme School, kids are learning the loops, swirls, and signatures that many adults remember from their own childhood.
“Reading and writing in cursive, they’re superpowers, so we’re bringing it back," said Principal Dr. Kim C. Williams.
Dr. Williams said that superpower nearly vanished during virtual learning.
“You had to teach kids how to write again, how to hold a pencil," Dr. Williams said.
Students like fifth grader Eldana Awat say they see the value. She even has cursive competitions at home.
