LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The latest COVID-19 vaccine for the fall season is coming to Nevada, but access is limited as pharmacies wait for more federal approval per state law.

Last Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration ended the “emergency use authorization” for COVID-19 vaccines.

The FDA also restricted the eligibility for the fall shots: only people 65 and older and those with conditions making them high risk for COVID-19 complications can get the updated vaccine.

For pharmacies to offer the latest vaccines, Nevada requires approval by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or “ACIP” panel. The committee is set to meet in two weeks.
