PORTAGE — A local police officer was injured after walking in on an alleged residential burglary and having to struggle to take the suspect into custody, according to the arrest report.

The accused, Kristopher Edmonds, 43, who provided no permanent address, is charged with two counts of attempted burglary, attempted residential entry, invasion of privacy, and two counts of resisting law enforcement, including one resulting in bodily harm to an officer, records show.

A Portage police officer said he responded around 6:30 a.m. Sunday to a residential alarm in the 3000 block of County Line Road.

After failing to contact anyone in the house, the officer said he spotted a door ajar on a garage. As he pushed the door open, a man on the inside of the garage pushed the door closed,
