The Department of Veterans' Affairs has rolled out a new website enhanced by artificial intelligence, as the government considers whether to use the technology to slash through its claims backlog.

Veterans' Affairs Minister Matt Keogh announced the new website alongside an update to Parliament on the government's progress in responding to the 3000-page royal commission report into defence and veteran suicides , handed down just under a year ago.

The AI-powered website tool is intended to be more user-friendly for veterans looking for support and answers.

Mr Keogh also announced $44.5 million in operational funding over four years for the Defence and Veterans' Service Commission, which will be up and running by the end of September.
